A new book claims 95 percent of the parents in the world have a favourite child, and the other five percent are lying. Do you have a favourite child?

I only have one child, but there are days when I prefer the dog............

Of course parents do, but as my mother politely put it "she loved us all for different reasons!"
i may favour one more than other, but it changes from minute to minute depending how the are behaving. :)

overall, no i dont have a favourite, perhaps its because there are only the 2 of them and they are boy/girl.
Depends on the day.

Seriously - some days each and every one of my children has driven me to utter distraction, and other days has made me believe that they are an angel in human form, so it does depend on our interactive state at the time you ask.

Do I have a long-term favourite whom i would single out every time?

Absolutely not! It rather goes against the notion of being a loving parent doesn't it.
I truly dont, I must be in the 5 %

95% sounds rather high..
Parents do, often without realising it, on my part no, but my mother did and gran, and not sure about mother, which one, but i wasn't in the frame with my gran.
Yep :-)

It changes daily though. My favourite child is the best behaved one.

I probably have a stronger bond with the youngest....but that's down to him :-)
I was my Dad's Fav....and his Dad's fav grandchild. I was spoilt :-)
A favourite here too as he takes after me whereas the other takes after my wife.
I don't have a 'favourite' child exactly but I do have children who as individuals I gel better with because they have similar interest to me or share the same sort of opinions etc. That doesn't mean I love the others any less but it does mean that I have more incommon with some than with others if I'm brutaly honest.

Hmmm - a lot on here falling into the 5% then.
I can absolutely, without a doubt say that my daughter is by far my favourite - then again, she is an only child ;)

Well I was my father's favourite and my brother was my mother's favourite. My brother and I have discussed it since they died and we were both aware of it and yet neither of us seemed to mind. For myself I admit I fall into the 95%.
I only have one so that makes her my favourite - unless the cat counts
I don't have a favourite child (too many to choose from) but I am probably most involved with thing #2 because of his speech problems (I am the only one who knows what he is trying to say/sign). This will undoubtably change when his speech improves.
Have 2 and talk to my Daughter more but adore my Son, so No, not really. My Son's the best drinking buddy :o)
I'm currently in the prestigious position of being my mother and my father's favourite child... However this is largely because I haven't moved to the other side of the world ala middle sister or moved up north ala youngest sister. Basically I'm the only one around who will feed their respective cats and dogs if they go away! :-/

no i dont, id find it impossible to choose between my children,
My mother used to say that you had to love your children but you didn't have to actually like them.

I am even concious of not telling either of my cats that they are my favourite in case the other hears and gets jealous. It defies reasoning.
