Have now been trying for 2 years, into our third year of trying now, have had two miscarriages and the last 15 months with nothing happening. Have had a lot of the basic blood tests etc and my husband has all been tested so finally looking forward to someone hopefully being able to help, but a little apprehensive as to what will happen? Although i am pleased to be finally getting help, have a feeling it may be a long road ahead...anyone else been here, what are the first steps likely to be?

Morning and good luck for today- most likley just a consultation today to explain the options ...... or possibly, if they are on the ball, to issuedrugs for the regime you will follow .............. when I did it years ago it was daily injecting into the stomach, but I believe there are now nasal sprays instead (?) ............... whatever way, it's nothing to worry about - if you've had all the tests then this will all be a walk in the park! I sincerely hope it works for you soon x
hi, what will happen will depend on many things. However, at my first (and only) visit i first saw a nurse who took my history and looked at my blood test results and asked my about the timing of my periods. they did a swab for chlamydia too. Then i saw the doc who looked at all the results and recommended that my husband have another sperm test and that i have "follicular tracking" which is when you have an ultra sound every day for a part of your cycle so they can ssee if the follicles are maturing and doing what they are supposed to do
no experience myself,,,, but good luck.
No experience either but lots of luck - from what the others are saying it seems like it can be a looooong journey - so dont be disheartened if you stumble at any stage.
Be all well worth it in the end
I had an internal scan to check ovaries etc on first visit too - that wasn't the most pleasant experience but you just need to focus on the hopeful outcome.

best of luck

Well today was a complete waste of time...
We got seen late as usual, when we did get seen thry ran through our medical history even though all our notes were sat underneath their notepad! We were then told the fertility clinic in our area is finishing and we will have to go another area (some 100 miles from us) or we could go back to see this consultant at his gynae clinic in a few months after doing another blood test (which i have had already) and another scan (previous one was fine and only few months ago).
My doctor had already arrnaged all the possible blood tests last year so when we got referred we could just get on with things but clealy thats not going to happen. I gave bloods today but scan cant be done until end of month and then the earliest consultant can see me again is July!! If all my resultsa are ok he mentioned clomid for 3 cycles but if that fails, I have to then go to back to my doctor to get referred to the other fertility clinic or I can go private to the same consultant....
Feels like any glimmer of hope i had has now gone, and this is just another delaying tactic. I understand on the NHS things are not instant but ive had so many tests already and there is nothing else they could possibly need to test. So all in all very fed up and have no hope on NHS of anything every happening so going to go private and hopefully speak to someone that wants to help and who may even care :(
sorry to hear that. I have been trying for over a year but docs started looking into things and doing tests last august as my bloke had previously had cancer and they only keep his sperm for so many years. So he got checked and is fine, but because I have irregular periods they did a scan straight away on me, everything normal, then I had a blood test again normal, then they asked me to do a 21 day blood test, I went to docs for those results today and shesaid they were normal but they wanted me to do another 21 day. I told her I was getting a bit fed up with blood tests as if I'm irregular 21 days doesnt show the things it should anyway. I have had 5 different doctors now and everytime have to explain the whole thing again. She could see how annoyed I was getting and said she would talk to her colleagues about it and then try and get me into a fertility clinic.
so sorry that the appointment didn't go well. if you can afford to go privately, it's probably the way to go, although you might still find there is a bit of a wait
