I used that sort of thing the day after birth with mine, but its your choice, theres no right or wrong answer. Go with your instincts! x
with my son i started at birth.
my daughter had eczema and so at 9 months old she still has nothing in her bath and i only use cradle cap shampoo
i use a mixture of things

when my daughter was first born she had really flakey skin so i bathed her in water with a splash of olive oil.

now she's fine so i alternate what i use. i use johnsons bedtime wash every couple of baths. i use the johnsons shampoo also. if i dont use the bedtime wash the shampoo washes her hair and i clean her with water .

i still give her one bath every week or so with olive oil. she's in the big bath now so normally use the oil when the bath is due for a clean. put far to much olive oil in the last time and so we've all had oily baths and got smooth skin now!!
They used these products in the hospital when they helped us bath her for the 1st time the day after she was born. So I've always used them on her. Although the health visitor said that olive oil was better for dry skin than johnsons lotion.
I had a flakey babba too, so used plain water and rubbed olive oil into her feet and hands where it was flakey, but since she was about 1 week old I have been using Johnsons baby bath in her bath, and either Johnsons head to toe wash or Tesco head to toe wash, or Johnsons shampoo to do her body and hair. She has a bath 6 nights a week and has had no problems thus far.
i used wipes and babybath products on all my five kids from the day they came home,it never done any of them any harm, your the mum use what you think best.if you go by your instincts, your baby will be fine.
