I have a friend who has been experiencing symptoms of a cold for 2 weeks now ie constant runny nose, slight cough, tiredness etc, my limited medical knowledge tells me that the cold virus lasts no longer than 10 days, anyone any ideas what could be the cause? Allergy maybe? x

ok, colds can occur in the summer, it might just be a common cold, i have one right now lol, i would get the things that you sniff up your nose and sniff, you can buy off pound land.it stops your nose from sniffing, also you can buy pillows which have a strong mint smell which gets rid of it also.is this helpfull?
A cold can last much longer than 10 days, especially if she reinfected herself or caught another cold off someone else as hers was ending.
I agree with daffy654.rhinovirus infection can last longer than two weeks. If the nasal discharge becomes green or yellow then that may mean there is secondary infection which may necessitate antibioics.
Sorry, just seen last part of your question......allergy unlikely particularly at this time of the year.
