I would say a beige colour. Sounds boring but theres lots of variants out there.
I always think cream or lemon go best against blue, but a lavender/lilac shade'd look alright as well.
If your son thinks that's too un-cool at his age - you could alwats do walls in navy blue, and the others in white or lemon, but going over a very dark colour at a later date might take some doing.

He loves beige thats what colour the other boys room is (but with beige carpet). Now then, at the moment the room has 2 white walls and the other 2 are one bright red and other is navy blue (england football team) so it looks as though they,re going to take a few coats!
What about royal blue walls with a white ceiling?

thanks to all of you!!!! you,re all so helpful x
Beige or sandy colours would be nice, but what about a aqua or duck egg colour - that should go nicley with the blue carpet. What I tend to do is get a colour mixed up from the dulux range - choose something in the warm shades and always go for the lightest as they can be quite strong.

This might help you find something:

My late Mum always said "If in doubt choose yellow" which in this case i would agree
