my wife is (very) pregnant & is really struggling to find a half decent selection of maternity clothes. everyone seems to be reducing or removing their maternity sections- Asda, Next, Topshop, D.Perkins amongst others all seem rather poor even after people have reccommended them (anyone would think that people don't need them anymore!). bizarrely when we went to a wedding in Galway a couple of months ago there were 2 actual maternity shops, we're beginning to think we should have stocked up there! its obviously a niche that is there to be filled in England (well the NW anyway). Can anyone offer any advice as to good places to try?? ta

Our daughter bought some smart/casual maternity clothes from Mothercare, mind you that was 20 months ago.
You could try H&M if there's one near you. They had some really nice stuff last year when I was pregnant. Smart and casual, and really well priced. Good luck to you and Mrs andytreble99!!

she tried Mothercare which was also not great. I'll suggest she goes to H&M if she hasn't already tried it (maybe she's just hard to please!). thanks!
Yes, H&M is also another good store too as jills says.
P.S. Good luck to you both - how exciting!
I think an awful lot of maternity clothes are sold by mail order, for ex. Blooming Marvellous catalogue, I can try and think of some more if you like.
www.additionsdirect.co.uk sell some very good value maternity clothes (41 items as of today)
I love H&M, I had the same problem when I was pregnant, the only things available at other places were uuuuuuuugly and poorly cut. I also used a lot of non-maternity low rise jeans a few sizes larger (they go under the belly) and super strechy shirts that fit my upper ribs, chest and shoulders nicely but streched comfortably to accomodate my belly. It was also nice to flaunt my belly rather than hide it in some burlap sack-looking thing.

thanks! we'll try some of your suggestions
Formes is a french maternity wear chain - quite pricey but lovely tailored clothes - probably more for special occasions or if you need formal gear for work .. but you might get some nice separates. Blooming Marvellous also has some maternity clothes. Both have websites but don't know them offhand .. I bought some maternity vests from H & M and wore then under same coloured t shirts and got away with wearing that until quite late on ..
Try www.bumptastic.co.uk they have free p & p and a good selection if you don't mind buying online.
hi im early on in my pregnancy and its not only the NW that's useless-down in Devon there's absolutely nothing-considering Torquay has one of the biggest percentages of teenage pregnancy you'd think someone would have thought to open at least one shop!! Good luck with the clothing problem! I'm looking on line for all mine!(ebays quite good!)
I found a fantastic range of maternity wear at www.sculptmaternity.co.uk heres the phone number as well 0114 229 9199, they even do a gorgeous coat.

Push Maternity (type into google have forgotten exact website), www.formes.com, and www.isabellaoliver.com have got some fantastic key pieces.  Quite pricey, but fantastic quality and will last for your next one!!!!? Most have the option to order a catalogue.  Another is www.noppies.com, some people rave about it, personally I didn't find anything I would be seen dead in, let alone pregnant!!  Hopefully your wife can find something from these sites.

Good luck

Hi, I had two friends last year that were both pregnant and could find nothing to wear, so I decided to help them out and designed a few outfits for them. This went on to me opening an online shop, the prices are very reasonable and the clothes stylish. Please vist www.justbumps.co.uk Nicola
probably a bit late now, but the best place I found to buy maternity clothes was Formes, a French shop, they have about 13 boutiques around the country. A little bit pricey but lovely
try looking at www.proud-2b.co.uk
