Hey all.

I was wondering if someone can help wih this problem.

My daughter is 11 months old. She has 3 large solid meals a day, 3 7 oz bottles (One in the morning, one at lunch time and one before bed time). I try to give her a water drink at tea time with her food but she refuses it flat. I have tried diluting the water with juice, Ive tried plain water, Ive tried watery milk feeds but she still refuses. I have even tried different beakers and cups but still she refuses. Im at a loss. She basically goes from 1pm to 8.30pm without fluid. Her poo is like pellets now so she must be dehydrated. Ive even had to force a little water down her with a syringe which I hate doing but its the only way.
Has anyone got any advice?

Try making into ice lollies, but use your own water and some juice (not the shop bought stuff)

I had same problem so went to Wilkos and bought the lolly molds.

Don't worry though, she will start drinking x

Thats a good idea, Ill try that. thank you
I would take any advice you get via this or any other site with a great deal of caution, including this. Have you tried talking to your GP/ district nurse/health visitor /NHS 24 etc?
Children will generally eat/drink what their bodies tells them they need. A lot of water will be contained in the food your child eats. You say "solid" meals, have you tried food with high water content , such as jelly? I wouldn't on any account force water or any other stuff into your child, you could end up choking her.

Yeah, the health visitor suggested the ice lolly thing as well. I'm going to try it today.
the ice lolly is a good idea but i would also keep giving her a drink of water with her meals and try not to get worried or stressed about her not having any, babies can sense how you feel so if you are relaxed and not bothered if she has it or not she may eventually drink some. A good meal to do is thick soup that you put lots of water into.
My daughter was exactly the same until I realised everyone talks about COOLED boiled water. She didn't like that it was cool, her bottles were warm, her dinner was warm , try warming it up as you would milk it might make all the difference, it might not be the flavour, she may just instantly feel the coldness and turn her nose up.
