Just thought I'd share this exciting moment with others!! Yesterday, after 5 years together and some very tough times with my 2 sons - they gave my husband a fathers day card. My eldest son is 20 and the younger 18. We have struggled big time to "gel" as a family and its been very, very hard and come close to threatening my relationship with my husband. But suddenly, out of the blue, a fathers day card and a prezzie from them both and a very nice apologetic text message to my husband from my eldest son. Tears all round .. but happy ones this time. Just wanted to share the joy !!! xx

Thats really lovely and I bet your husband was dead chuffed.

Both my girls (16 & 18) gave my husband of 2 years a card and present yesterday and he was really pleased as was I.

Nice when things turn out goo isnt it?!
I got a bit tipsy on Wednesday and told my stepdad I loved him, and that he was like a dad to me, infront of my dad. I just hope he wasnt to narked off with me for it.

This was just so unexpected. Its felt like them and us in the house for so long. We have just kept on doing what parents do. Son's car failed MOT? we paid the repair bill. Got too drunk to drive home - out we went at 1am to pick him up - with bowl and towel at the ready. Needed tyres for car? Phoned contact in the business. Managed to get 4 tyres for 30. etc etc. But its all been rewarded with this wall of resentment aimed towards my poor husband who wasn't used to kids in the first place - but... yesterday a breakthrough ... who can predict kids. But needless to say it was an emotional moment and we were pretty chuffed. I just hope we can build on this and home can be a happier place.
Oh suzu-q what lovely news :) I am thrilled for you and your hubby, and for the boys too. What a good feeling it must be to finally accept your family as it is!

Woop!
