Hi all. Our 8 week old started life waking us once in the night & going back down within an hour to an hour & a half. This past week she has been waking between 1am & 3 am & staying up for upto 5 hours. She has been suffering from colic & is given Infacol prior to every (Dr Browns) bottle, she's on 5oz 4 times a day, but with her early hours bottle, she'll drink 3 or 4 oz then not want any more, then about an hour or 2 later she wants the bottle back. We recently moved her on to second stage formula & in the 5 hours she was awake this morning, she drank 7oz. She sleeps for about 6 hours between feeds & we've tried keeping her up longer in the evening, giving her a bath in the early hours but she just wont sleep at night. We never had this with our other 4, what can we do?

Im just trying to remember what my sons sleeping was like at 8 weeks.
I used infacol and the dr browns bottles but he was still suffering so i read a bit about the infacol and apparently it makes some babies worse. I stopped using it and things did change for the better.
Have you tried dream feeding her? My son would fall alseep at 8 and then wake at 12/1 for a feed so before i went to bed at about 11 i would feed him. Babies will feed when they are asleep and because they are nor frantic they dont gulp down so much air either.
When i fed him this way it did make a difference and he would sleep until about 5am.
Growth spurts affect their sleep patterns too and i know that babies grow rapidly between 6 and 8 weeks or so so this could be a contributing factor.
Anyway these ideas may come in handy.
Goodness I wouldn't worry, she's only 8 weeks old! I know that you have had four other children, but remember, they are all individuals and you can't expect her to behave exactly as her siblings did. My younger son slept through the night at six weeks old whilst his elder brother was still getting up during the night at 2 1/2.
Having said that I know that sleep deprivation can be an awful thing so I do sympathise. As redcrx says it may be a growth spurt in which case she'll soon settle down again.
My daughter used to keep me awake most of the night with colic. Initially I was feeding her myself, but changed to the bottle to see how much she was actually taking. I was told by my health visitor that although she was suckling as if she was hungry, she was actually sucking because of the pain of the colic, something I am told that babies do. I used to tuck her in to my warm belly and rock her to sleep, which seemed to work, however, giving me a problem of her going to sleep on her own. Cooled boiled water with a tiny bit of gripe water helped. I also got her a dummy to suck on, although I know there are various points of view on this. It doesn't stay forever; honest, it just seems like it!Good luck.
Have you tried gripe water this worked for my little boy they can have it from 1 month if i remember rightly
