Hey! I

'm hoping some one can help me out with some advise!

My 10 wk old baby, Jack, has just settled in to a night time routine, play, bath, feed, story and then he's out! so we have reclamed our evenings (when it works...) - Bliss! However, i dont have any kind of routine during the day, and he sleeps as and when. He is having teething pains and can get over tired, he fights it, you know the story....

Anyway, i wondered if i should try and get in to a routine during the day. Any advise on how to do this/plan it?!

Its greatly appreciated!

at 10 weeks i'm very impressed you have started any routine.
personally i would do what you want while he's still small and when he's a bit older sort out the times he needs to sleep. they generally find their own preferred time for sleeping
is this your first child? if so congrats, but just go with the flow.
Well done on the routine but as far as day time routine I can't really help but my son was in a routine early for bedtime and well as meltoadhall says do what you want try a routine when babs is a little older as babys tend to do what they want xx

Heya!

Thanks, both of you, for the advise! Will try and hold off creating a routine for a bit! Its just that i wonder if there is more i can do with Jack, as by the time 5pm comes, i'm thinking, does he really want to hear me croaning 'Old MacDonnald' for a tenth time that day!?!?? I just seem to carry him with me, go for a walk, sing to him, read to him put him on his play gym (which he only chills on for short bursts of time!) repetedly during the day. Is there anything i'm missing out on? Should i just keep on with what i'm doing. I wonder if he's going to get board with the same songs and activerties! Would love to know your thoughts!

Thanks again guys! Take care

You are really lucky to have managed a bedtime routine so early - stick to it! All children are different - my partner and I didn't impose a routine on our first boy, which suited him fine, but the second was happier when he knew what was happening and when. The younger boy also needed much less sleep and it wasn't long before I abandoned daytime naps in favour of a reasonable night's sleep.
It's hard to get them to settle when teething, just let him sleep when he wants during the day. To prevent him getting bored (not that I'm saying he is), try new books from the library, maybe join a local playgroup so that you also don't get bored. Have fun!
go for coffee with friends, go shopping, go visiting, join a mother and baby group, network now for like minded women you will need them when he gets older.
after his next injection you can go swimming - good for both of you.
from past experience if you sit at home just you and baby you will go potty - i did - take him with you and get out there
