My darling 3-year-old daughter has taken it upon herself to decorate the walls and a set of nest of tables with wax crayon. Any ideas what I can use to get this off without taking the paint of the wall and the varnish off the tables?

I've looked in my how to clean everything book, it's been a bit of a godsend...

If crayon is on vinyl wallpaper, test patch a squirt of WD40 somewhere inconspicuous for staining, if it's OK, spray onto mark, leave for 10-15 min, then sponge clean with hot soapy water & rinse.
If plain wall, melt the wax with a hairdryer on warm setting & wipe away with paper towel OR, scrub with toothpaste rinse & blot dry.
I remember someone also saying before you can 'lift' the marks by using a warm iron over brown paper.

Its just normal flat wallpaper painted over with cream paint (can't remember if its silk or satin).

What about the wooden varnished table?
Seeing as the wallpaper is painted over, I would try the hairdryer on both that & the table & see how it goes. It seems to be the least abrasive method, you wouldn't want to damage the table.

Meanwhile I'll try the WD40 one on my vinyl wallpaper that has artwork & let you know how it goes.
The WD40 works! I'm quite surprised.

It's better if you spray & rub with towel at the same time though otherwise it runs.
Ah bless! This question takes me back a couple of years. I couldn't believe it when my husband suggested WD40 for crayon stains, but it did work- sort of!

I hope the attached site helps.
I've used brown paper & iron on fabrics and this has worked, but not walls, however just to cheer you up, the darling 4 yearold daughter of my local shop keeper had left him a nice picture drawn with a stone on the side of his Lexus this afternoon!
To get wax crayon off a nest of tables, BABYWIPES work wonders! They also get it off of radiators, fridge doors, washing machines, basically anything with a shiny surface. My daughter drew all over everything except the walls when she was a toddler!
hi my son drew everywhere i was told to use mens lynx body spray and i promise it worked for me
I found a rubber worked well when my little boy did the same on wallpaper...
