Has anyone noticed the number of corners taken where the ball is placed outside the quadrant? How are teams getting away with it?

perhaps the linesmen - sorry, assistant referees - who are right there looking at the corner kick to check for that, don't know the rules
Sloppy assistant referee's. I think the standard of referee's has risen since the previous World Cup but the assistants referee's has dropped.

They should be bubblebub as they are stood over the taker but they often seem blind to it in this WC!
Are you sure it is outside the quadrant. I believe the ball only has to break the plane of the quadrant arc, and so looks to be outside the quadrant.
Yes, emeritus. In the same way that a ball can look out for a throw in or a tennis ball breaks the line.
They're still 'in'.
Unfortunately, the laws of the game have been tweaked by FIFA. As long as part of the ball is over part of the line marking the quadrant, then that's ok. I believe it was allowed in the Premier League last season as well.

Fair comment SlackAlice. Some of the officiating has been predictably sloppy. On the competition itself doesnt it say much when both Brazil and Argentina have been nowhere near their best and still made the last four.Gutsy performances by Costa Rica and the USA but they are no longer....

Some kicks I def believe have been fully outside.
Don't think so, agchristie. Many people don't realise that for the ball to go out of play for a throw in, corner/goal kick or goal the whole of the ball has to be over the whole of the line. For a corner the ball can be placed outside the quadrant so long as part of the ball is above the the edge of the line. The part of the ball touching the ground can be as much as 4.3 inches/ 11 cm outside the line
This picture may help.
However maybe I am not quite right- whilst the base of the ball can be outside the arc the wording of the rule suggests that some of the ball must be over part of the quadrant. I'm not sure whether the arc line counts as part of the quadrant- the images here don't cover that scenario
No - the 'Assistant Referees' are particularly hot on this - the ball is overlapping the quadrant - there's no problem here!

There have been many agreeing with me outside this forum. It happened regularly in the group stages and sometimes since.Good pic factorfiction!
Agchristie - yes, the bottom of the ball may be outside the quadrant, but some of the ball is overhanging the white line therefore the ball is in a legal position. The referee and linesmen are not failing in their duty.
