I have a 3 year old boy and my parents have always bought him presents at xmas and birthdays. I have never bought presents for him to give to them on xmas and their birthdays mainly because he is a child and i think presents are for the grandchildren to receive not the other way around.
Just curious to know what other people do at xmas when it comes to presents. Do you get presents for your children to give to other people, even if they are still very young? Would you as a grandparent expect this?

No with children you just include their names on any gifts you give, they have no disposable income after all.

Didn't when the kids were that young, but when they got older they gave presents that they made, then when they were older still I gave them say a fiver each to buy presents for grandparents and let them choose the presents themselves, they may not have been great presents, but they akways put thought into it, and it introduced them to the joy of giving
As a grandparent I never expect anything but I am given gifts from the grandchildren & it's lovely. Next time there's a birthday buy a small inexpensive present, let your little boy scribble on the gift tag & hand it to them himself...they'll love it. :o)

even when they are 6 months and 3 years? my 3 year old appreciates them in ways by giving cuddles etc or do you mean i should buy presents for him to give them?

i think a little inexpensive prezzie would be nice leslie, just a little something..

unless you have parents like mine who like to know youve spent a bob or two...
I've always gone down the route of a nice picture in a frame as presents for my folks from the kids.

It's personal without being expensive

yep. Present value from him would be compared to what they have spent on him
Tell them to do one. Cheeky fluffers
oh s0d that leslie,
a little wrapped gift - a box of chocs or a framed photo etc, with their little scribble on the tag and handed to them by the child should be more than enough...

lol. They never actually say anything, its just how i feel. Feel like they want back what they give.
Leslie, would you feel the same way with your grandkids?

If not, then they probably don't either. lol
Question Author
no i wouldnt expect anything from my grandkids. If i get my dad a present even if its something for easter like just some choc he will respond with "well i should think so" and if my mum says you shouldnt of got us anything, my dad will be like, yes she should. No thanks or anything. Just bothers me and now im paranoid thinking i should buy them biles of presents from my little boy to make up for all the things they have bought him. Daft i know.
Just tell your Dad your saving up the money for when you have to pay for his incontinence pants lol
