The collective noun for Squirrels is "Dray" or (and I like this one) "scurry". i was a bit confused by this as I thought they lived in a Drays but apprently they live in a Drey with an E.
I'm confused by the previous answer. I believe that there is no collective noun for squirrels.
Some will suggest that it is dray but that is just a variant spelling of drey which is the name for a squirrels nest.
I cannot find an authoritative source for suggesting that either dray, drey or scurry is such a collective noun.
I would dearly love to know the correct answer and, to prompt this, I will post a question in the phrases and sayings category in the hope that the site expert wordsmith, Quizmonster, will pick up on it.
isn't it a gathering of squirrels?
A search on collective nouns reveals Dray to be the correct answer but you could also have a scurry of squirrels or a colony of squirrels

I am now convinced that there is no collective noun for a group of squirrels. Those web sites referred to above are wrong. Check this link for recent discussion on the topic
