property repossessions

I wondered how you find out about propertys that are being repossessed by the banks and building societies. My daughter thought that she might be able to get on the property ladder as the prices might be cheaper for a quick sale, but we dont know how to find out whihc properties are being repossessed or perhaps they arent advertised as such. Anyone any idea please.
