From personal experience, it would be nice to amend a posting after it's been posted because of a typo or a link hasn't worked etc., but I do realise that this could be open to abuse when it's done to make subsequent postings seem ridiculous or irrelevant.

However, one possibility to allow this would be to let the poster to append additional text to an existing posting so that what was originally written is still there for all to see but any changes are also included in the original posting. In Q&P tt happens quite often that people post a new question simply because their first attempt was slightly wrong (and sometimes it takes them several efforts to get it right) and thus you end up with several threads just for the same question.

So how about allowing an 'Append To Posting' option if only for questions (and of course only available to the OP)?

And those additions should ideally be made clear by including the date/time as a heading for each part.

(what I suggest would have been useful for this posting)
What about bringing back the bloody preview button. Why the hell did they get rid of it?Im sure they could hire some experts from other sites to do this.!

On other sites, as well previewing, you also have the option to edit your posting once it's been submitted; with some of them there is a time limit for this being available.

Has there ever been a definitive reason given for not allowing these options on AB?

The reason for suggesting appending to a posting because I assume that there must be some specific reason (e.g. making other postings seem ridiculous) as to why editing is not allowed.
I like that suggestion, Jumbuck.

And yes BRING BACK THE PREVIEW.
Good suggestions here. I always spot an error just as I've pressed submit answer.
Do it AB Ed, please.

we're on a roll (ok maybe the preview, as it used to be, will suffice)
I would quite like to have all these things. Before we get to that we've put a collection of small niggles which need changing into the mix. I will let you know when we're making progress with a Preview and Edit function.

Previously I was against an edit function, as it potentially becomes a vehicle of mischief. I have come around to the idea now, as long as the edits are clearly marked. Also, I am pro addendum.

Tallulah! Did you know you were being spoken of in Chatterbank? They we're talking about good usernames.

All the best,
