I am a doctor from Airdrie, Lanarkshire. I would like to send some money to my folks in Chennai , India.,I would appreciate if you could kindly give me the swiftest and the safest way to do the same.

You can do this through the post office with a service called MoneyGram. Check out the link:

Or you could go to your bank with some ID, like a passport and debit card and say "I'd like to send some money to an account in India, here's the account details". I'm not too sure what you being a doctor has to do with the question though.
Well, let's see... I have copies of some old emails from Mr Freddy Kyari of the Congo, who seems to have International money transfers and laundering all worked out. If you like, I could forward a copy to you. Or, just send the dough to me and I'll take care of it for you. Why not just put it in your pocket and fly home for the holidays and hand it to them?
You can send money through Western Union, they have offices located in many travel agents.. they do charge a fee though.
And how does what you do for a living come into it?
