Does anyone know what you have to do to qualify for this. I am looking to go back to work part time ( 20hrs per week) after being on maternity leave and I have been told that I don't qualify?.
I know other people who work full time and get it? How is it calculated?
Many thanks

i think those people are on very low wages.

try a few figures in here to see whether you may be entitled. Dont forget family tax credits, which may go towards paying for child care.

Go to the web site. They will calculate it for you. I think it's www.hmrc.gov.

If you are working only 20 hours per week you should qualify.

Thanks for the links, I have followed the questionnaire and it says i "probably qualify" yet when i complete the full questionnaire it says i dont?
If you are a single parent then you almost certainly qualify for Child Tax Credit (unless your income is above about 50K pa.). Whether you also qualify for Working Tax Credit depends on your income.

If you are one of a couple both credits depend on the joint income of you & your partner.

You shopuldnot be looking at Working Tax Credit alone - the system should be showing whether you are entitled to both, or just CTC, or neither.
