I have just had an e-mail, supposedly from eBay referring to Shill bidding and then saying that I had changed my email address BUT if it was not me who changed it then to follow the link.

Due to the bad grammar in the message I was instantly supicious and instead of following the link, reported it to eBay spoof dept.

However, what is `Shill bidding` in relation to eBay and was I right to be very wary?

I have now had an email fro eBay confirming that this is an attempt at `phishing` and checked `my eBay` account and seen that the message went to my email in-box only and not to `my messages` on the eBay site. If anyone else gets similar - then beware.
Shill bidding - when the seller uses another id to place bids on his own item, forcing the price up.
