This may sound a silly question, but today I paid some cash into the Halifax at the ATM through the deposit cash option, typed in the amount etc (after inserting Debit card etc) and then an envelope came out , placed the cash in the envelope as advised and put it back in the relevant slot - it is only just now (some 8 hours later) that it has dawned on me that I didnt actually write anything on the envelope nor did I complete any slip (there were no instructions to do either) - how can they tell it's my money please? I can go there tomorrow to check, but im having one of "them "panic moments. Thank you for any help.

Did the ATM issue you wish an aknowledgement slip?
If so, does it have a transaction number on it? They'll be able to verify it by that.

Even if you don't have one - don't panic! I'm sure you're not the first person to have done this! Just get down there as soon as you can and report your mishap. As long as you can describe how much was in the anonymous envelope, I'm sure you'll be fine. Any queries, they have their CCTV to check who was in and out. Put it out of your mind for now, it'll be fine!
When they empty the cash point they will print a log and your account details will be on the log so no need to worry all will be fine.

Thanks makemesmile, I did get a transaction slip and I know that I was there at 11.55am, it has put my mind at rest - In the past when Ive paid cheques in, come to think of it I dont recall then having completed any slips either ? Its strange but they seem to have a new type envelope and i was wondering if this is somehow "unique "for the transaction (cant see how it could be - but you never know).thanks anyway for the answer.

Also thanks to legend1751, appreciate the help. Im walking past there tomorrow anyway so wont hurt to pop in and double check.

Cheers
Don't panic - you have nothing to write on the envelope. The envelope is merely a way to insert the cash, and the whole transaction is dealt with inside the ATM. In order to get the envelope out, you must have told it (the ATM) what you were paying in and it is all recorded (and checked by two people when emptied, BTW).

Keep using it it and you'll get to love it, especially when it can beat the queues.
It should print your account number, time of deposit, date and amount you keyed in on the envelope as it goes through the receipt slot (ex b/soc cashier here lol) plus theres a till roll in the atm to cross check it against :o)
