Not so much a question, more of a rant really, and any of you folk who do work, or have worked in the hotel/ca tering industry will agree.

Monica from 'Friends' has a job as a head chef in some top new york restaurant. Yet she never seems to work evenings, or public holidays.........ever.

In fact i reckon she must only work an 8 hour week.

Back in my day working in that trade, it was split shifts, 5 evenings per week, weekends, public holidays. Minimum 50 hrs per week.

I seem to remember somebody did a study of the lifestyle of the characters from Friends and how they could afford it.

Living in central New York and yet at times they only work as waiters in Central Perk.

In fact none of them seem to work very much at all.
It is not a documentary. It is escapist nonsense.

Thanks for that.

And heres me thinking it was a fly on the wall filmed reality tv show!!!!!
Wish it was, cuetip, then we could hope to live that lifestyle.

:)
the 1st 5 series were very good but yes when you analyse it in terms of the job/lifestyle thing it quickly falls apart. It also amused me that Ross & Rachel's baby conveniently disappeared for vast amounts of time towards the end.

Yes it's just a sitcom but that shouldn't mean anything goes - you have to have some logic even to made-up stuff.
