Money not really a problem, but don't want a sport version or with too many frills. Your thoughts please. x

I know that people make fun of them but we have had a Daewoo (now Chevrolet) for the past 9 years. We have a Kalos at the moment and it really is a good little car. Very 'nippy'. They also do a good deal when you buy new (or at least they did when we bought this one 2 years ago!) Free servicing for the first three years and free MOT after that for as long as you own the car. Also only being a 1400 the insurance and road tax are cheaper.
Forgot to add that it has electric windows, CD/radio and air conditioning as standard!
Personally I'm delighted with my 4 door Corsa. It's nippy, economical, has electric windows and air conditioning, and is easy to park. It's also in the lower car-tax band.
If you're a girlie - a Kia Picanto - always comes out tops in the ratings tests - good on m.p.g and other extras.
I am a firm fan of VWs - although some say that they are 'personality-less' and they are a bit more expensive, they are very reliable and the way they are put together is fantastic. None of the little rattles or plasticy effects that you can get with other cheaper models. Happy shopping!
A VW Polo! They are fab little cars and I never had any problem with mine. Was really economical too!
I'd go for a Corsa. I learned to drive in a Fiesta and then drove a Corsa - the Fiesta was a ton of bricks in comparison! (And I only passed my test in December, so this is for new cars)

My personal fave at the moment is a wee Peugeot 107 - SO cute! And quite affordable. 107 per month on Peugeot finance :) If I get the job I'm going for, I'll get a 107!

Or there's a Citroen C1 or C2, they're quite basic - my friend drives a C2 and loves it. The steering is very light, and it's really easy to park as it's got a flat boot (whatever the right terminology is for that I don't know or care :P ) so you can nip into wee teeny spaces.
