i just posted this in the wrong section and sum one went abit funny with me so here i go again


how much tax should my 17 year old cousin be paying or should he be paying it at all he earns �100 a week

For the tax year just ending (2005/2006) you can earn �94 a week before paying any tax or NI, so the amount of deductions your cousin should be paying is very very small. Not sure how much the allowance has gone up for 2006/2007 so that may lift him out of tax/ni altogether - if he rings his local tax office they'll be able to advise him.

yep as yodel says should be pretty much tax free.
sorry sam i didn't mean to be funny with you its just that it is kind of pointless having topics if people don't post things in the most suitable place... also it gives the people who run AB more work moving posts around. lastly, there are ABers who just look at certain topics, some of them are pretty expert on those topics, you might miss them if you post in the wrong topic!

Tax should be around 32p a week and National Insurance 33p a week. This is assuming normal NI contributions, and a regular tax code.
