Interested In Purchasing A 17" Applemac Laptop.
My eyes are getting worse and I'm struggling to read my 13"current one. Hoping Chico or others can advise on a reasonable price I can expect to pay please. Thank you.

As others have said . . .
(a) Apple haven't made 17" laptops for many a long year ; and
(b) simply increasing the font size on your existing laptop might well solve your problem anyway.
The cheapest 16" MacBook Pro (which is the closest you'll get to 17" these days) is priced at £2499, which is a totally ridiculous price in my opinion. A refurbished Windows machine wouldn't cost you much more than £100 and would do the job just as well.
I don't have a mouse TTT not had one for ages and don't want one. I don't know what a Slave Screen is.
Barry I have had my current one since 2017 and the battery is still fine. I don't move my laptop about so weight doesn't matter. Don't watch any of the things you mention. I do play Solitaire a few times a day, read the papers, go on Amazon to see if there is anything I want to buy, check the weather forecast and my bank account!!. Also send messages to my family and grocery orders to Waitrose, plus share any news or concerns with other tenants about our block of flats. Probably a few other things as well.
I think TTT's suggestion is best although I don't know the best technicaltrem - basically buy a big 'screen only' or desk monitor like people use at work desks or have on the wall in their offices that plugs into your laptop. I've even seen a big one that is on a stand from the floor advertised on Temu!!! The same screen view would be enlarged so if you sat close it would appear bigger.
a slave screen is a stand alone screen that you plug into a USB socket and it will show whatever is on your laptop screen, you don't need a mouse, your lap top mouse will still work.

If you do need a new laptop (which I'm beginning to doubt anyway), here's what I'd go for:

It's sold by a registered charity, which I've bought from several times.
