I have inherited a large amount of pre decimal coins together with bags and tubes full of newly minted decimal coins. I am not excepting them to be worth a fortune but where can I take them for a valuation? Any ideas?

You could e-mail Vintage Cash Cow (who buy coins among other things), tell them what you have and a representative would probably call you to discuss.  Photos might be helpful.

Search for them on eBay, and select sold items. This tells you what people have recently paid for various coins. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=british+pre+decimal+coins&_sacat=0&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

I second Vintage Cash Cow.

Take them to a coin dealer.

I’m in a very similar situation with a collection of old coins I inherited and had no idea where to start. I didn’t realize Vintage Cash Cow was such a popular option until reading all the recommendations here. Also love the tip about checking completed listings on eBay for a rough value range — that's such a smart move before committing to anything. Big thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences — it makes diving into something like this feel way less overwhelming
