I tried to cash in some Premium Bonds but unfortunately could not remember the answers to my security questions and failed the security check.

NS&I say they will post a form out to me, but I am worried that there will be more security questions that I won't know the answers to. I've had the bonds for many years and never cashed any in.

Has anyone ever been in this situation? Is there any hope of getting my money back? I have a lot of money invested in bonds and I am gutted.

I don’t remember setting any security questions - mind you I bought my first bonds in the 70’s
Don't worry about it - it's your money and they can't keep it from you. In any case, I have just looked at NS&I site and there is a pdf version of the form they will send to you. You just need to fill out how many bonds you want cashed, your name, address and phone no and your bank details. There are no security questions.

I don't remember setting any security questions either, it's such a long time ago.

Thanks for replies - much appreciated.

I've just spoken to them again. The first two said I'd have to wait for a form to arrive in the post and it could take up to a week, so I rang back and asked if I could speak to a supervisor. This third person said I didn't have to wait for a form to arrive in the post as I could fill it in online, and he talked me through it. He reassured me that I wouldn't have to answer more security questions - that was a relief.

I still have to wait for them to reset my password, and they'll put it in a letter in the post, but I'm relieved that I don't need to answer more security questions.

I have been in this situation with a bank - a long telephone conversation eventually convinced them to proceed.

Thanks all. I'm still waiting for the letter with details on how to reset my password. Hopefully it will arrive today as I need the cash fairly urgently now.
Just wondering, Willow, did you manage to get your cash out fairly easily in the end ?
