This arrived via my email this morning.

//Starting 19 January, 2022, we will unfortunately no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK, due to the high fees Visa charges for processing credit card transactions. You can still use debit cards (including Visa debit cards) and non-Visa credit cards like Mastercard, Amex, and Eurocard to make purchases. Please update your default payment method now, or add one of these new, eligible payment methods if you do not have one.\\

That is a pain. I use my Barclays Bank Cashback (0.5%) Visa Credit Card on all my Amazon purchases. I will be looking to buy what I want from other retailers from 19/01/22 who will accept my Credit Card.

Is this affecting anyone else on here?

It won't happen. Amazon and Visa will come to an agreement

I never use my credit card, it's too much trouble trying to pay it off each month and I don't earn interest from keeping money in my account for a few days. I prefer to use my debit card, which is a bit like using cash - you pay, and the money goes out.
This is showboating, trying to get Visa to reduce the fees.
Atheist, you get much more legal protection on purchases over £100 if you pay by credit card.
ladybirder, do you have a debit card? If so, then why not use that?
barry, I don't usually spend that much. When's the last time you needed legal protection?
Get yourself a Mastercard, lb

Atheist it is no trouble paying it off every month as it is set up automatically to pay off the total amount. I do have a Debit Card which I rarely use as I prefer to get 0.5% credit back which builds up over the year. OK not a vast amount but it is something and I have never paid Barclays a penny in all the years I've used their cash back card.
Plus as Barry says you get legal protection on purchases over £100. It was useful to know when I paid £699 for a fridge freezer and £800 for a new shed the year all on my card.
Wouldn't you do the same thing if you had a cash back card Atheist?

Ellipsis, how would I get a MasterCard?
disgraceful and yet another example of Amazon arrogance - just research how they treat their drivers and those of their contractors, never mind their avoidance of tax in this country.
I’ve had the same message. I also have a visa credit card and use it for the extra protection. I’ve also set it up so it is paid off each month. Like you I’m not happy with the situation.

Who supplies your current Visa card?
@20.35.Mind you,DTC,Bezos is down to his last 14 trillion dollars.Bloody shame,eh.Im not a sociaslist/communist,but is it not before time we brought these"plutocrats" down to earth, and hung them upside down till all the spare cash fell out of their pockets.
break them up, especially as they had the arrogance to have a Amazon Prime Mastercard.....
sorry - a Visa credit card!
Bezos has already come down to earth.

ladybirder, you could ask your bank about Mastercards

Atheist, last time I needed to use s.75 it was because a kitchen company went bust after starting the work.

Thanks everyone for your help. I need to sleep on this as I'm pretty cheesed off with Amazon. I'm trying to simplify things as I get older, not get another credit card to not lose:-).

Milo I'm sorry to read you are in the same situation. Have you decided what you are going to do?
Don't use Amazon. Simple.

I use them a lot Hoppy because they are so fast.
Ladybirder, I haven’t decided what to do but like you, I don’t want to get another credit card. My son suggested using gift cards but it always seems to end up with an odd amount left after purchases.
