There is NO rise if you live abroad Danny (except for a few countries).
Bar stewards & a mega vote loser!
I think it's the correct thing to do and with no effective opposition they can do it without getting hammered at the ballot box.
Heat or eat. That could be the question for some.

I agree with you Danny and TTT. I don't see why pensioners should be immune to the damage CVD has done to the economy.
It will anger the grey vote but there is 2.5 years to soften them up again and I can see it being reversed early 2024.
any news on MPs pay?
Easy for me to say a sit dont affect me yet but on balance am not dead against it as the double lock means 2.5% or inflation whichever is the highest so pensioners wont be worse off in real terms. Pensioners who have saved into private pensions too dont do too bad as theres no NI only tax to pay and theres the winter fuel pay and travel passes, but my only concern is that are basic pension is lower than in many major countrys.
Politically though I think they missed a trick, they could of changed it to something more abit more generous like inflation + 1% and then recooped some of the money by making some pensioner benefit's (say winter fuel and maybe christmas bonus and bus travel passes) taxable so only the better off pensioners would pay the extra tax
TTT// I can see it being reversed early 2024.//
It is only suspended for 2022.
ok danny fair enough! then plenty of time to cheer the codgers up in time to give labour another Tonking in 2024.
All part of Tory strategy - four years of really punitive measures, then in the fifth year give just some of it back to engender glowing support.

And a lot of the general public fall for it time after time.
ah poor canary, "why don't they all agree with me and vote labour" ? errr because no matter how bad the Tories are Labour are worse!
Teresa May thought the pensioners didn't matter and look what happened to her.
I can see a greatly reduced majority at the next election and then the knives will be out for Boris.
Actually, I think it's shocking ! I thought the triple lock was safe with them (lol). I, myself will be ok as I've always been a good saver and came into quite a bit when my beloved parents died, BUT that doesn't mean I am complacent, I know there will be a lot of poor pensioners out there living on the barest minimum who will be terrified now wondering how on earth they will pay the ever rising heating bills this year. It shouldn't be like that for pensioners, it's not nice getting older and older what with infirmities and disabilities that always come with age. We ALL get old and should remember that when targeting pensioners.
Knives are out for Boris now BHG.
Feel sorry for the pensioners but,..... "you reap what you sow"....
I'm not convinced that the Tories will "givge labour another tonking" as TTT so subtly puts it. I honestly believe that labour will recover a lot of votes, one reason being that Johnson is useless and the longer he stays in office, the better it will be for Labour. The Corby Factor in reverse.
