I've been watching Alex Polizzi show 'My Hotel Nightmare' and her mother said that when Granada took over the family firm Forte 'we got nothing, absolutely nothing'.

Now surely even when the takeover is hostile, money or some other consideration must pass between the parties otherwise it is theft. Maybe her idea of 'absolutely nothing' is different from mine.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Her mother is still working for the company that took over Forte
