Further to my last post. eBay are now asking for bank accounts for sellers, they won’t be using PayPal any more which I liked. And their fees are going up, I believe it was 10% inc postage on sales. It is going up to 12.8% of the total amount inc postage. There is also a fixed charge of 30p, I believe this is on any item you buy. I will be trying Gumtree and Preloved for sales in future. Any money I have in PayPal can be used on sales elsewhere.

I thought ebay & paypal were joined at the hip - am I wrong?
do you have a link to this smurf, seems a bit unlikely, especially the bit about charging the buyers 30p.
Yeah Ebay and paypal are Siamese twins hard to see them separating.
This from November '20 - https://tinyurl.com/y46wnadc
You will be better off under the new system, very slightly
Buyers can still use Paypal (no fee) and there are now more ways for buyers to pay.
I can't see this change being a good reason to leave eBay.

Thanks Barry, that explains it perfectly. If anyone uses another site to sell, please let us know !!
It has been talked about for about two years now that they might be parting company . So far ,I haven't been told of any of the proposed happenings and I have been a member buying and selling for 18 years. Where are you getting your information from smurfchops?
^^ just checked and I think I'm ok until end of 2021.
If you have a pay pal account and you dont use It, they will be charging a dormant/inactivity fee account, that was on MLMS from 16th Dec, £9 a year, just log in or have a zero balance to avoid it!
£12 a year, joeski
well seems an odd thing to do for them, bound to alienate the punters on both sides.
smurfchops, I can't see why you would stop selling on eBay because of this change. The fees will be less, the only disadvantage is that payments could take up to two days to clear so the buyer will have to wait.
Have a look at eBid
barry1010// £12 a year, joeski//

Been reduced that now to £9 the update came in December the hike was announced in October!!
so I assume the protection you get from paypal is also in the new ways??
eBay has its own seller protection, TTT. Buyers can still pay with PayPal and will still get the PayPal protection. If they choose to pay by other methods they will still be covered by the eBay buyer's protection scheme.

How will we be better off if eBay’s fees are going up?
The link clearly shows that the overall fees will be less - no PayPal fees to pay.
