Over the past few months I have read these reports in the news:

1. Young man killed last night when stolen car he was driving crashed in to a tree. His sister has set up a GoFundMe page to 'give him the send off he deserves'.
2. A woman is in a coma in the USA after sustaining life threatening injuries in a jet ski accident. She didn't have adequate insurance and her family has set up a GoFundMe page to cover her hospital bills.
3. A family is devastated when their house burned down. They have set up a GoFundMe page as they didn't have insurance.

Is this the way it is going to be?

Insurance not needed

Insurance quite obviously needed but it really is all a bit late

Barry - dont read this ! your brain will mold
You don't have to donate though
oh can we have an outing for

scot who has won the Pools is asked by his wife
och. but what aboot the begging letters?
and he says - keep on sending them out !
There's funding, and there's funding, none of these would get 50p from me.
barry, there will always be people who cannot afford to take out insurance and there will always be people who are able to help if they can afford to.
It's a gamble that some take, there's no guarantee that fundraising will work for all.

Choices isn't it.

Barsel, anyone who can afford to go water ski-ing in the USA (from the UK) can afford insurance. They simply choose not to buy it. People who steal cars don't give two hoots about the legal requirement for insurance.
What has happened to dignity?
barry I was talking about people who genuinely can't afford to buy insurance. Those who can afford it but don't buy should not be setting up GoFundMe, but it's down to individuals whether to donate or not.
rented property
is still pretty difficult to get contents insurance

but that is not the point of this penniless dossers on the razzle thread innit?
chrissakes lets not inject any sense into this thread by observing that applying for insurance so that you can steal vehicles is a tad .....

// I was talking about people who genuinely can't afford to buy insurance. //

insurance is a condition of being able to drive. if you can't afford insurance then you can't drive. or is there a suggestion that an undertaking to set up a "gofundme" page counts as valid insurance?
The GoFundMe was for his funeral.
I suspect "the funeral he deserves" wouldn't cost much.
In which case 'give him the send off he deserves' might not cost too much. Nobody ever seems to think about the victims in these circumstances. If I had my car stolen I'd be mentally devastated.
I suppose they don't think about the victims because they assume they are insured.
have I just read - - - I cant steal this car coz I'm not insured?
Hi mooshie!
"What has happened to dignity?"

Still sailing up the west coast, through villages and towns as far as I know.
