I took up their ‘free’ offer but cancelled well before the ‘free’ period ended only to find that they have taken a monthly fee from my bank account after the date I cancelled!!! I’ve even got the message they sent confirming the cancellation!!. I’ve just signed in and cancelled again but I want my ‘fee’ back but how???

Call them. From what I've read on here they usually refund.
Amazon 0800 279 7234
step away from the exclamation marks and call them.
they will refund you - give them time to put it back into your account.
I ordered something from Amazon the other day and while I am usually good at checking these sort of things I found an email from Amazon saying I have signed up for their "Prime free trial" (which then converts in to a monthly payment)

I certainly did not select to do this so assume while making my order one of the Amazon pages had a default option saying you WOULD sign up to prime (there is a lot of info on the Amazon web pages so it is often hard to check everything)

So if anyone does order from Amazon just double check you are not signing up for Prime as well.
I intentionally signed up for Prime when the cost was reduced to £59 a few weeks/months back.

I have saved that amount alone in free next-day delivery and I get free TV programmes too. It 'can' work out to your advantage.
I had that once where I accidentally clicked for the free trial. I didn't complete the order but reversed out and selected free delivery. However I got a message that I was signed up to Prime.

They cancelled it without quibbling.
I also signed up accidentally, but went straight to My Account and unclicked auto-renew or whatever the option is. I was never charged for anything. Unfortunately I never wanted to buy anything in the next month.
Their ordering system is constructed in such a way that signing up by mistake is easy to do. But it's no problem, just cancel.

Personally I avoid Amazon if possible owing to their stance on UK tax - Amazon Crime I call it.
// step away from the exclamation marks and call them.//

step back to the exclamation marks and dont let them sleep.
None of the usual suspects who allege ( wrongly as it happens as usual) that you will get refunded are wrong

keep on trying - and - - - I dont think you have successfully cancelled yet - so be prepared for more guff and more honeyed words and more money lost

I had to cancel my cards to stop it

try doing a i hate amazon prime ( oh we were signed up without knowing another little trick they have) posting
no human will look at it
but you will get a machine rejection because it has recognised phrases like
'crip' 'abysmal service' no one listens' and so on

I know I have been there.

I was prepared on advice to since £10k into shares ( for profit of course) a bit fiddly as it is a foreign stock - but after THIS decided not to { ie Amamzon failed the Victor Kyam test ] - never invest where the punters say the service is crip
yeah it is called click baiting

we couldnt find the account we were signed up to - and the money still kept on going
yeah an AB frequent poster ( usual suspect I suppose) told me in confidence [Brexiter probably] that Amazon prime is a well known cause of cancer .....
I was the same as Hopkirk 12.48. I was furious and emailed Amazon and said I wanted my free trial cancelled immediately with added moans about how annoyed I was. They emailed back that this had been done and I had no further trouble.
When I posted about this on AB some while ago lots of people expressed surprise, but it had obviously just been added to the website as it has caught many of you out now. Frankly I hardly ever shop on Amazon now, much prefer EBay.
When I read about people having purchases being made on their account that they had not initiated, I emailed Amazon to have my card details removed, so I could just pay each time. Apparently this is not an option, but when I logged in again, I have had extra security put on my account in the form of a Captcha.
For a second time I have been 'tricked' into buying a CD using Prime. I took every care to ensure I was not trapped but they have cancelled the AP. But how to ensure that as only an occasional purchaser, I keep well clear of their £79 racket?

Read the small print,

'Proceed without the benefit of Amazon Prime'

it really is small print.

I wish Amazon wasn’t so darned good, but they are.

I wish other retailers were as good, so I could use them, but they aren’t.

I would hate to be an Amazon supplier, though.
I agree BB....I don't know what I'd do without Amazon. We bought a new TV which was delivered the next day.

I have Prime....must have saved us a fortune in delivery costs.
I also agree, I remember when they first started and were books only, I was worried about using them but now Amazon is my go-to for pretty much everything.
^^^I agree, and don't you just love knowing that your order will definitely be with you tomorrow?
