There has been a wire transfer made from the US to my bank, sent 2 weeks ago. It has not arrived. Has anyone any experience of this sort of delay and any suggestions of what can have happened to the money? I'd be glad of any help. I'm not getting anywhere with the bank or the sender.

Are you sure the sender had the sort code and account number right?
Question Author
I have checked and rechecked all the numbers.
Good question sandyRoe. When we were in business I had to make and receive lots of inter-bank transfers and it was one of THE most important things I made sure of before making one.

I checked and triple checked the recipient’s bank details before sending.

What is the sender saying, winstonmin?
What about the sender? Did he have them right?

That's what I was thinking.
A friend of mine was meant to send me some money by bank transfer and I know 100% that I'd given him the correct details.
He rang me to say that the transaction had failed - it turned out he'd input the details incorrectly. Luckily enough, he'd input a bank sort code that didn't exist, so it didn't get transferred into another person's bank - it just never got sent.

The sender says that all numbers are as provided (which have been checked). The sender says that they cannot do a forward search (I thought this would be standard). They says the only recourse - eventually - is a recall which will take a long time. I'm stuck......
A thought that comes to mind is that it was never sent
Who is the sender? A well regarded business or an indicvidual/small business who could be trying to fleece you by pretending to have paid you. If they are a genuine business it sounds like their problem.

They are a well-established company - I can't imagine anything crooked.
Thanks winstonimin. You haven't received the money they owe you. It's up to them to sort it out. You should do whatever you would do if they hadn't paid
Happened to me once and despite giving the correct details, money went awol. It took a month of phone calls, going to branch and being vocal to get my money back. It had gone to an investment bank, ending up in someone's account. I was compensated too but it was hell.

Sharon: Thanks. Who was it who traced the money in the end? Was it the sender, or did you have to do it through your bank?
Winston, the bank traced it for me. They had a log showing which bank and what time it entered that bank. Oh I had to pay bank charges to get it back too.
