Anyone else had nightmares dealing with Barclays? Phone them and you face a long interrogation by machine. Then when you eventually get through it's to call centres in India where you struggle to understand one another. Puts me right off dealing with Barclays ever again. You?

Everyone I know that banks with Barlcays complains about them (and NatWest) I would change banks if I had a problem. Lloyds call centres are in the UK and I never have any problems

Isn't that the experience of most companies ?
Unfortunately it's not only Barclays by a long chalk. I cannot remember the last time I got through to a UK call centre.
I remember once I was on a call to BT, struggling to comprehend the indian accent and the guy said he was going to transfer me to their tech centre in Glasgow. When the guy answered it sounded like Jim'll Jinx it from the Russ Abbot show but that was great because I'm fluent in Scottish. I said to the guy I'd never been so grateful to hear a Scottish accent!
Yorkshire Bank's call centre is in Scotland.

The same thing happened to me, TTT, when I once rang HSBC, but with a less than happy outcome. Being unable to understand a word of what the Indian was saying I was eventually transferred to Glasgow. I still couldn't understand a word!
I like PlusNet, I can understand Yorkshire.

That's the problem with large companies, they fail to "respect the will of the British People"
The only consolation is that with internet banking I very rarely have the need to ring a call centre.
^ Agree with Jackdaw. Barclays online banking is very good. There is little or nothing that you can't do on it. In over 11 years with them and 3 accounts I have never needed to use a call center. Only need to go into the branch if I need to pay in a cheque which is increasingly rare now.
Unfortunately it's all about costs. Why pay a UK adviser £16,000 when you can pay someone on the subcontinent £1,000 and very glad they are of the money too.
Being fluent in Scottish saves time explaining 'awa an' bile yer heid ya bawbag'.

Finally spoke to someone who ran through SIX security questions, all answered correctly and without hesitation, before I lost it.
