Earlier on I was lying in the slumbers on my lovely settee with Maxie on my rather large paunch - when the window was nearly put in - it was very dark and I hadn't closed blinds etc.

Opened the window and it was my neighbour (about 28 years old) who just moved in with her hubby about 8 months ago with a card and a box of chocolates.

OMG - I have spoken to her about 5 or 6 times and I truly didn't expect this. Apart from my one neighbour with hubby and kids - I don't bother with pressies - just a card.

Now I feel in a position to return a pressie. Will do with a box of biccys. I don't know what it is about me. The more I don't want something the more I get. I know some of you will say I am ungrateful but truly I'm not.

But must give you a larf, card from postman saying a delivery wasn't made because sender didn't put correct postage of £1.50 - I wasn't expecting anything so raced down today in the middle of the traffic to main post office. Paid my £1.50 showed my identity. What was it only a card from the Credit Union and a bloody pen. I could have bought 10 pens in the Poundland - LOL

Oh dear what a cross to bear!
Give her the same chocolates back :-D
Question Author
terrible cross indeed Islay - must say I am so glad to have friends and neighbours
I'd love to receive a box of chocolates from my thoughtful neighbours, even though I don't eat chocolate.
Question Author
why would you want them Tilly if you don't eat them
Because it would be a lovely gesture.
Question Author
It is indeed a lovely gesture Tilly but I don't like anybody spending their money on me when they don't know me.
Just smile, say thank you and accept the gift in the spirit it was given!
Question Author
that;s just exactly what I done Islay. She also left me a pressie for Maxie last week - she baked it herself. Liver breddie things - he wasn't dying about them but she asked me if he liked them - of course I told her he loved them.
That's nice JJ, I always buy my neighbour upstairs a box of biccies as they give me lifts through the year and won't take petrol money.
Maybe your new neighbours think you are a nice lady JJ ? I do believe you are happier giving than receiving gifts. Enjoybyour chocolates :-)
I think a box of biscuits would do nicely, jj. Or a bottle of wine.
She's just trying to be friendly. Perhaps she doesn't know many people, and is trying to get to know her neighbours.
How lovely Conne...nice to know you have caring neighbours x
have new neighbours, think they've finally moved in, will pop round with card 'welcome to new home' and a box of biccies.
