What Is Call Sequencing

Hi, One of my coursework questions asks the above and asks how I would use them. But I don't have a clue and not much info out there online, can you help?

Basically, it's where, when a subscriber dials a number, if the number is not answered, they are automatically directed to each of a set of alternative numbers in a predetermined sequence, until either the number is answered, or the call reaches the final number which would go to either a "no-one available" message, or an answering machine.
For example, if someone calls my office number and it's not picked up (within a set number of rings), the call is routed automatically to Skype. If the Skype call is not picked up, it is re-routed to my house phone, and if I don't answer that, it goes to my answering machine.
