I am buying a new apartment in a few months and was wondering if anybody could help me out with a forecast for what I can expect to be paying for bills. Everything is Electric, there is no Gas, its 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a lounge/diner, bathroom and an en suite. Any ideas for water and electric? Cooker is electric and it has electric heaters. Not those old storage heaters, the more up to date ones. Also any ideas how I can find out the Council Tax band for a property that hasn't finished being built yet! Also any other first time buyer money saving ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

When I had a one bed house with no gas (electric heaters), I was paying about 45 a month for electricity.  The water rates were about 20 a month, but you only pay them for 10 months a year.

You could ask the local authority what the council tax band is likely to be. They may be able to give you figures for a similar development in the area.

Averages only

Council tax 80 (for 2 people)

Electric water telephone inc broadband & sky 150

Food 130 (for 1) 230 for 2

then calculate car tax @ 15 per month

Your car, house & life insurance

Your fuel and 40 towards car maintanance

SHould give you a rough guide, good luck in your new home
