Export Hotmail contacts

Good morning all
I am trying to export my Hotmail contacts but am getting nowhere. The drop-down menu doesn't seem to give me that option and the 'help' page is useless.
Can anyone help?

I don't use it much but if you click on Options (at top right) and More Options... in that menu then at the bottom of the right-hand column under Customizing Your Contacts is Exporting Contacts.

Where do you want to export them to?

If you want to export them to Gmail or similar, try importing them from Hotmail

I'm trying to export them to gmx (and later gmail).
When I manage to get to 'export contacts' as you suggested, it says it will export to my computer.
How do I transfer?
I'm not very savvy, as you may have guessed.

export to computer means that it will save it as a file
