usd v jamaica dollar which is better value?

hiya

i am off to jamaica and they accept both the us dollar and the jamaican dollar throughout the country.... bassed on the exchange rates i dont know which would be better to take can anyone advise me please?

yes but which is better value to take, i know they want the usd more as they then proft when exchanging to jamaican dollars but which is financially better for me to take?

Now I like the US$, but I also like the Jamaican $. But which one is best? There;s only one way to find out....

Sorry...Harry Hill moment. I've always found US$ better becase if you have any left at the end of your holiday, you're more likely to use them again worldwide, whereas Jamaican $ limit you to Jamaica.

going back to runaway bay and cant wait,
i normally take dollars as like you say they will be able to be used in other countries but in the current recession wondered if it was the best option

Take some of each, spend the Jamaican dollars first, then you can either exchange some of your US$ or bring them home (if you have any left over!).
Have you checked out if the Jamaican $ is pegged with the US$? Not sure about jamaica but in many Caribbean places they are pegged so it doesn`t make much difference. The exchange rate will work out equal cost wise
