I cancelled an American Express credit card after settling the account which I assumed would also cancel the American Express travel insurance which was offered to me with the credit card. However, 6 months after cancelling the card I found out that the next years travel insurance had been charged to the cancelled card, resulting in a default payment on my credit rating. Does anybody know whether there is anyway I can rectify this problem as I am amazed that something could be charged to a cancelled card.
Thanks

did you actually cancel the card or had you just paid it so balance was zero?
I had similar happen to me once and it was because id not written to get the card cancelled, id just torn it up and cleared the balance not realising that a card insurance could still be taken from it.
I managed to get the charge refunded from those that took it and also my credit card company creditted the interest once they saw that the payment was taken in error.
