I am a UK tax payer living and working in Britain. For tax purposes can I have overseas investments such as an interest bearing savings account or share in overseas property etc?

you mean will they be taxed? I think so but they will offset any tax already paid locally. Also, if you sell property abroad you may have to pay capital gains tax here.
