Hi

I am thinking of renting my house out as I am struggling at the moment to sell it.

My daughter who is a full time student and works part-time as asked me if she could rent it. I know she cant afford it from her income. But would she get any benefits to help or would she not get any benefits as it's my 9her mothers) house she would be renting?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Doubt she'd get benefits to rent an entire house. Maybe you can let it as a student let, with your daughter in one of the rooms, so they can split the rent and utility bills. She can select people she likes to live with and at the same time, keep an eye on things.
I would strongly recommend not renting to family or friends, especially as you know she can't afford it. What happens when her rent payments dry up? Will you be willing to evict her? Honestly, its just not worth the hassle and you could end up falling out with your daughter.

Depending on the area, you should have no problem renting out to other tenants though. Whether the rent will cover your mortgage payments I dont know and there are other costs when renting too - agent's percentage, insurance, maintenance etc.
She will not get benefits as it is your property! But for your information Housing Benefit have changed from effect of April and they pay 90 for a one bedded property for single person, if it is more then this she will have to pay the rest as a top up and along with the bills!!!
