Charged For Apprentice Plumber

Hello all. I am a directly employed plumber for a very large orgaisation. i have been told today that i will have to pay £35 a day for an apprentice plumber (year 3). nothing has been sent to me in writing to inform me of this, infact it only came to light this morning. Any advise with this matter would be greatly appreciated before I start a grievance procedure angainst my manager. thanks stuart

If you are employed by a large organisation, why should you have to pay for anything at all? If the company takes on an apprentice, if they've done their recruitment correctly, THEY have to pay the apprentice an apprentice wage (circa £100 a week at the mo, I think) - why should another employee have to pay for it. I don't understand this scenario at all.
Yes indeed , very odd .

What's the full story ?
Have you misunderstood the situation? Ask for clarification. Most are capable of mishearing or misconstruing a conversation. Otherwise, start grievance asap, it is not right.
This is where all the action is happening on this thread, chaps.
