How did pirates, traders etc prevent sunburn in tropical climes? Just a thought as I sit at the bar in Corfu in 37deg heat.

If you sit in the sun for a week you'll get sun burnt.

If you work in the sun for months on end you'll stop getting burnt, not great for your skin, but I don't think pirates were too worried about their skin care regime.

Mmm. But they must have used some product to ward off the suns rays, or did they learn quickly?
The main product probably would have been, clothes and a hat.

Flippin hot tho.
Maybe to you, but do the locals look like they're overly worried about it?
Question Author
I'm not talking about locals tho. What about the guy in the Floozies Arms in Plymouth who was press ganged and a few weeks later found himself in temperatures he'd never experienced?
