Why have you done two threads? I've just posted this on your first one.

Not sure there is anything you can take to speed up metabolism, they'd really coin the market for slimming if there was lol. Guess it's as per usual, eat less than you need and exercise more (shame isn't it :-( ) but I'd be interested to hear if there is something else one can do to speed the metabolism up.
My friend buys laxative teabags, not sure about speeding up the metabolism, but it certainly makes other "things" hurry, she has lost 3lb in a week!!
Think you are right daisy. Your body is your body and works at its own pace. If you start along that line you will be speeding up your life and I don't think that is the point of slimming at all. You should only be aiming at losing a small amount per week (about 2 lbs). It is no good going at it like that you will put it all back on again as soon as you stop. A good diet and exercise, it is the only way.

sorry daisya, realised I had posted question in wrong category!
Exercise. It`s been proved that exercise spees metabolism and continues to speed metabolism for a certain amount of hours afterwards (they used to say 10 hours but I`m not sure if later experiments have proved otherwise)
If you exercise more (speed up your metabolism) then you get more hungry and it's very hard not to eat more, so that's not the long term way to lose weight. I know lots of people will object to me saying that, but many, many scientific studies have proved this. If you want to lose weight because, like me, you're heavier than is safe or healthy, then you probably have a problem with your insulin system. This is known as Metabolic Syndrome, or Insulin Resistance. A Google search will lead you to lots of websites and further information on this. The basic message you'll find is - if you want to lose weight and keep it off, you have to reduce your carbohydrate intake drastically - no bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, cereals or sugar in any form. I've done this and lost 50 lbs without starving myself, and I've easily kept it off. My sister, who was even fatter and had developed diabetes was advised to alter her diet this way and she's even stopped needing medication. Good luck.
I echo what Topkat says. More and more research is showing that you need to eat fat to loose fat...and that means ditching carbs. Also-there is no conclusive evidence that dietary fat contribute to arterial fat.

Chilli's and black pepper speed up your metabolism naturally.
Protein boosts your metabolism. So boost your protein reduce carbs and exercise. Also plan your meals look carefully at what you are eating, moderate portion do not starve yourself and have healthy snacks between meals. Curves 3 phase diet plan is great.
To help speed up ur metabolism? You should, cut carbs (pasta, bread, potato, rice etc), eat protein (tuna, steak, chicken, salmon, fish) eat more veg and fruit. Exercise about an hour a day five days a week. Drink a pint of water in the morning, water is needed to carry the fats and toxic products that are broken down during fat depletion but it also speeds up metabolism. Drink about 8 glasses of water a day (I drink flavoured water though as its nicer and it also fills you up more which stops you excessively eating). Green tea and caffeine are the main ingredients in the 'fat burning' tablets, only in larger quantities, so when you exercise? have a coffee before you gym it. Put two spoonful's in. Green tea is good to drink and it is suggested it speeds up metabolism. Fruit and veg require the body to break it down for longer which increases the metabolism so eat 5 bits of fruit a day. ALSOO...I know this as I worked at a gym, the MAIN thing to increase metabolism...when in the gym? Cardio loses the fat HOWEVER you need to add in some weights (even light weights) this is a known fact that adding in weights builds a bit of muscle and this muscle will help speed up your metabolism by 45%.

To summarise: Cut carbs, eat high protein, drink more water & fruit & take up some exercise, drink green tea, do cardio to burn fat, some weights to build a bit muscle to speed up metabolism. Its fun! Try it
