Perhaps the idea of a crush is inspiring, endearing; perhaps it's a hell that no one wants to face. I, however, hate the crushes I experience because they're always on people who I cannot physically get (whether it be a celebrity or someone who lives too far away, or maybe because they're straight).

I am sexually confused and I have a feeling this ties in with these crushes, but they always drain me of confidence, of any self-belief (or most of it anyway). The problem is I don't want this to happen and, although a natural process (for it is human nature), I can't bear the pain of another which, by the way, is developing. I try to face reality to think that it cannot actually happen but the problem is my heart 'thinks' differently - inside, I know that it cannot happen but it continues (as most crushes do, I am sure).

Any help as to how I can reduce the emotional distress? It may help to know that I'm 17.

Thanks in advance.

same thing happen with me sometime i m 13!!! I think in this age it happens!!!
Give it another 5-10 years - you'll grow out of crushes.
You may start to grow out of everything, including your clothes - that is much more upsetting.

Yeah I guess so, it's just annoying they have to exist but, as you all say, it's emotional learning (and it's kind of painful too). I have another developing but I shall not stalk this person (don't worry, I don't anyway) but I will try to refrain from thinking about this person too much.
