Take your First date to the Pub and watch the Match there.......
football

Ok. That didn't work properly...
Basically, I've arranged to go out next sat with someone, then woke up this morning and realised it's at the same time as the England v USA game!
I can't justifiably cancel for that and expect her to talk to me again can I?
I suppose it would help if I knew if she wanted to watch it or not!
If she don't like football then she ain't a worthwhile first date

Women should know that they come 3rd in the pecking order behind footy and beer
If you're as ugly as you state, I'd go on the date and tape the footie...
Why don't you ask her? Even non footie girls can get into the world cup.
With a name like ugly_bob, are you sure you can afford to cancel ? ;o)
you can justifiably cancel, its the world cup, you would have to wait 4 years to see that again
Take her with you.....go somewhere after.
does she like football bob? nothing worse than watching a game with someone moaning they are bored halfway through it or chattering incessantly throughtout the match
bob could always tie her up and gag her for the duration... of the match...
stand her up

I know it's the world cup, but if she's not into it, she won't appreciate the fact!
I can't really turn round and say "'ere luv. Do you like the footy, cos I'd rather watch that than take you out on Saturday" it might work out well, or it might not!
The other side of the coin is... It's the first game and we're going to be awful. Do I really want to put myself through the dissapointment?
take her out and tape the game...simples
Nice wine bars sometimes have tvs she might feel better about it if you watch the match in nice surroundings, most of the females I know of all ages love footy anyway some are rugby fans as well
Forget the footie its a very silly game!!! if you pass this woman by, it could be a mistake that you will regret for the rest of your life, remember, it is only a game after all!!!
If you need to ask you don't deserve her.

You even think about turning over a first date for football, you can't care that much.
A some years ago the local miners welfare in the held a series of very successfull "Ladies " nights leading to complaints by the male members as to the unfairness of the situation so the commitee organised a "Gentlemans" afternoon on a Sunday dinner,When the day arrived I was working so got to the club late, to find a very upset compere and three bored young ladies having a drink in the foyer while nearly 200 men sat in the tap room watching Man U play Newcastle, I'm afraid with some men football always comes first, especially England in a World Cup

I think I'm just gonna have to jiggle things around a bit. Arrange an "oh look, there's a telly showing the football. We may as well have a watch while we're waiting" moment. I reckon I can sneak in the second half.
Problem is, next time we could get together would be 2 weeks later. That's when we'll be playing second round! Hopefully!
Sod her mate. If she don't like the football then it's her tough luck!!
At the end of the day she's only a bird!!
