thank you, Manin-cornershop (la la la la laaaaaaaaaa).

no pinching allowed.
As far as I know, registrars are employed and liu if there are any availan
blcenced by your local council. There isn't such a thing as a freelance registrar, but ifyour local registry office is booked, there may be other registrars employed within your council authority and based at other registry offices who could do it. Contact the registry office and explain that you don't want to book the office, but you would like the services of a registrar on that date, and they'll be able to tell you if there are any available.
Hi natlever,

Why dont you do something impulsive and fly out to get married in Vegas, by Elvis himself?.........

Thanks yogi bear! But the reason i am asking this is because we have a wedding booked in vegas for the 18th June but now it appears my partner needs a visa, an interview with the embassey.... we are going through the process now and fingers crossed we shall still have our vegas wedding, but i am looking at alternatives just in case... we have a reception already booked here so was looking at the possibility of having a civil ceremony on the day but my local registry office is fully booked :(
Crumbs, I hope it works out for you. We got married in a venue away from the register office but it has to be licenced for weddings (obviously) and we had to book the registrar quite far in advance, and five years back the "call-out charge" was something like £400. We had to make the arranegments with the registrar ourselves so I suggest you ring them a.s.a.p. - if the register office is booked solid on the day you want then all the local registrars might be too. You have to go to the register office for the area where you want to marry, I don't think you can ship one in (but I could be wrong on that).
