I've been seeing my bloke for nearly 4 months now. It's his birthday at the end of this month and I'm not sure if I should get him a present or not, mainly because if I were to get him a present I wouldn't have a clue what to get. Would a card just be enough? Thankx

Take him out to dinner? Or get him an aftershave so he can smell how you like him to smell lol!

Hi alijangra thanks for ur reply. The thing is although I'll see him a little bit that day I won't (I gather) be seeing him in the evening as he always sees his mate on Wednesday nights and his birthday falls on a wednesday. Should I offer dinner anyway do you think?
If it was the other way around, i.e., your birthday, would you expect a present from him?

As for gift ideas, I think aftershave is a good idea. Unless he has an particular hobbies or interests that you could buy something for?
you should get something, i think he may be hurt if you didn't - but perhaps get some tickets to some gig or event or somewhere he may like, and put them in a card - that way, its not like a wrapped up gift and its something for you both to enjoy.

perhaps, cinema, bowling, madame tussauds, alton towers, etc etc
Personally I rate aftershave on a par with socks - rubbish! Why don't you make a card or something a bit silly that he would appreciate.
I'm having this problem too. even with my ex I only ever spent 20.00. My new blokes birthday is in July but mine is in June and he keeps going on about the things he wants to get me and I really dont want that much at all.

I'm thinking I might just ask him but I know he'd say something smutty lol.
Give him a ????
Richie that is terrible!!!!

I think you should get him a nice card and write in it that you would like to take him for a meal , in a venue of his choice.
If you think he will suggest something smutty, then go for smutty! lol
Just have about what he would really like, what would make it different and memorable :)
Being as it is his birthday are you sure he will not be seeing you.? And yes you must buy him present of some sort. What about a new shirt or t-shirt. Or see what he is interested in.

Thanks for your answer lilacben. He never bothered about Valentines night (although we had only really just got together) and that was a wednesday when he saw a mate so I'm just assuming he'll be doing the same. He's not all that romantic as you can tell lol
Why not just say to him being as it is his birthday on the wednesday would he be seeing you or his friends on that evening. Then you could say well if you don't see me you will not get a present. See what he says to that.
