In my flickering candles under the tree and in the lights across the wall with tiny pegs holding Christmas cards, in my large lit parcels and in the star on the tree, all refreshed for the rest of the week till Friday when the tree comes down for another year , will I miss it? No, not really, now I'm looking forward to getting back to normal , well as normal can be when you're in the house 24/ 7 :0)

Hi ILM, lovely to see you posting again
You early Christian heathens - back then Christmas lasted from Advent to Candlemas (5th of Feb), deemed as the mid-point of winter. Norwich Cathedral still adheres to this tradition, its decorated tree remaining up.
I usually leave mine until twelfth night but am going to take them down on Sunday this year before back to work. It's quite a palaver to switch them all off at bedtime though.

Hi Bobbie, decided on a little break!

My parents always did the 12 days thing, but I think it was more common back then. How Mum put up with it though I don't know, as there was always a real tree and you should have seen all the needles that kept dropping off!
